Huab Lodge

It felt like arriving as a guest and leaving as family. Huab Lodge is worth a visit. The amenities, staff and surroundings are incomparable to anywhere else in the world, and I can't recommend it enough.

Deon was the highlight for us on the riverbed game drive. He's a knowledgeable, down-to-earth host, and we really enjoyed the morning coffee stop and BBQ lunch with a few beers and wines. At the lodge, the bar and restaurant area is a lovely place to watch the varied bird life, meet other guests and spend time with the hospitable owners. We also enjoyed sharing dinner at the family table and chatting with Deon, Lidia and the other guests. We were after somewhere remote, and this was just right, with a lovely landscape and nice rooms. If a remote, unique stay appeals to you, it's worth the time, effort and money.

It felt like being on a different planet. The scenery and nature are unlike anything else, and the night skies, adventures, people, sundowners and hot springs all made the visit special for our whole family. The hosts are wonderful, friendly and down to earth. The lodges are beautiful and clean, with renovated modern bathrooms and thoughtful details throughout. We had a fantastic experience and hope we can come back one day. It really is a magical place.

Meals are shared around a communal table, so you get to swap travel stories with other guests and hear tips from the excellent hosts. There's also a pool and natural hot spring, and the atmosphere is really friendly. We didn't see much on the game drives, but the beautiful accommodation and wonderful hosts still made our stay great. It's a peaceful oasis on the Huab riverbank. A bit tricky to reach, but you won't regret going.
