Weltevrede Guest Farm

We hadn’t booked a room or planned to stay at Weltevrede, but stopped there unexpectedly on the way to Solitaire because I wasn’t feeling well. The staff immediately helped and took time to explain what we could do, then checked that I was okay and offered support without expecting anything back. Their kindness made a real difference that day, and we’re very grateful. The location is stunning too, but it was the people who made us want to recommend Weltevrede.

This place has a lot going for it, but people in the travel community may need to hear more about it. A marketing person and an enthusiastic manager could help build awareness and referrals.

There’s a pool where you can unwind, and the campsite is roomy with a lovely view and a good spot to cook or have a campfire. Each site has its own private amenities, simple but with what you need, including a hot shower.

Dinner was the standout for me. The farm-style food was great, the oryx steaks were well prepared, and breakfast was very welcome on a crisp morning. The rooms could use an upgrade, though. It’s a characterful guest house in a very remote spot near Solitaire, well off the beaten track and great for stargazing. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you stay.
