Tarentaal Guest Farm

Dinner comes out right at 7pm and was delicious. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, give the hosts plenty of notice. Marian and Piet are lovely, as is the rest of their staff. It’s a welcome oasis in this dry landscape, and a quieter alternative to the busy tourist lodges nearby.

The owner was incredibly helpful, even planning our route for the days ahead and putting together a takeaway breakfast so we could get into the park early. We loved the freshly cooked dinner, and there’s a lovely-looking pool we didn’t get around to using. It’s a very nice place just outside Etosha, close enough to make the most of your time in the park. We’d happily recommend a stay here.

After several nights elsewhere, we were struck by how welcoming this guest farm felt. We settled in right away, had good chats with the owner and other guests, and got useful park tips from him that helped during our visit. Both meals were great, and our room was very tidy. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The garden and pool are beautiful, and the place has been put together with a lot of taste. It’s a lovely base for visiting Etosha. The mattress in room 1 needs attention, though. I slept badly both nights because it was a basic sponge mattress with no support. It sank during the night until I was basically sleeping on the bed frame.
