The changing light over the Canyon is wonderful to watch, and you can see it right below you from bed. The rooms preserve your privacy without making you feel boxed in. They’re spacious, with a lovely mix of luxury and bush simplicity, and I loved the outdoor shower and sky bed options. Getting to the lodge meant a gruelling offroad drive, but the view in front of us made it worthwhile. Everything was well managed, with superb service from friendly, helpful staff and very personal assistance from the manager. The vistas were even more magnificent than I expected. I can’t recommend the experience enough.

The meals were delicious, service was impeccable, and the activities were great. Our spacious, comfortable accommodation sits on the canyon’s edge with magnificent views. Absolutely wonderful, highly recommend.

The canyon views are unparalleled, and there’s a lovely pool with some nice activities to choose from. The small chalets are nicely decorated and private. But there were quite a few mosquitos at night and no mosquito net in the room. Breakfast was limited in both options and quality, which could be much better for the price of this hotel.

The Lodge has a lovely spot on the edge of Fish River Canyon, but the dangerous stretch of gravel road may put people off unless it’s repaired. We spent several hours, with help from two farmers, trying to assist an English couple whose Toyota Foretunner was stuck deep in mud on that section. Private plane charters are a ridiculously expensive alternative. Please deal with this threat to the Lodge’s business and fix the road.

We had a really good two-night stay. The lodge at the top of the canyon is a unique experience and a must-do on a trip through Namibia. The rooms and main building have very cosy interiors, and the atmosphere feels familiar. Staff were nice and attentive, and both breakfast and dinner were incredibly good. We highly recommend the full day Canyon drive. Special thanks to our guide Wilhelm for such a nice and interesting day. Warm regards, Julian
