West Nest Lodge

The hosts were friendly, the facilities are great, and there’s lots of memorabilia about exploring. But geckos in the room, along with all the things that fly in there, are a no for me. I like camping, just not sleeping with geckos.

The meal was fine, shared with a group that was staying there. My night in the fixed tent was pleasant apart from the mosquitoes, and I wish management had sprayed it before I went in. I was also charged for each cup of morning coffee, and should have been told about that beforehand.

The staff were great and nearly made us feel like family. With so much to offer families with kids of any age, birdwatchers, campers, people looking for peace, fitness enthusiasts, and animal lovers, it’s nice to find somewhere with rates Namibians can afford too. The choices include self-catering bungalows and luxury chalets, tented camps, campsites, and a honeymoon suite, all at very affordable prices. Our self-catering luxury chalet was well equipped, though bathroom and bedroom rugs would have made it more comfortable. The cement floors made the rooms quite cold on winter nights. A microwave would be a welcome addition. Staff walking behind the chalets instead of along the path at the front would also help guests keep their privacy. The restaurant only opens for breakfast, which was a little disappointing. They were short staffed, so the receptionist could only serve two people at a time in the restaurant while also preparing food. Bookings therefore had to be made a day ahead. Thanks for making our stay memorable.

The serenity pool was the best, and it was heated. The beds were comfortable and there was warm water.
