The sunset from the deck was beautiful, and the scenery along the river was lovely. We came hoping to fish but didn’t catch anything. The fishing trip itself was great, though, and our captain really knew his stuff. The food was good, the staff were friendly, and the pool felt a wee bit cold for us. Checkout got complicated when the power went out and the generator didn’t work. We had trouble paying the bill, and it took time to sort out after we got back home to Australia. It’s finally paid. In fairness, the hotel should have taken responsibility and waived the bill for us. A backup generator shouldn’t fail. We were lucky we’d already left, since otherwise there would have been no power in the rooms, kitchen, or bar. When we left, we gave our chairs to a fisherman, who was so pleased to get them 🤗🤗🤗. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

I was very disappointed with my stay at Hakusembe, and I won’t be back. I stayed at campsite number 4. The campsite itself and its facilities are perfect, but when you book this idyllic spot, no one tells you about the neighbours. There’s a rural settlement beside the campsite, and across the river from both the campsite and the lodge there’s another one. Cows, dogs, pigs, shouting children, and music late into the night. Sorry, never again.

We had a lovely sunset boat cruise, with snacks and drinks on board. The campsites are great, clean, and close to the river. Pool towels are available.

The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the pool is really nice. We had a clean, comfortable room in one of the chalets, enjoyed the delicious food, and loved the evening sundowner cruise. A fabulous lodge.

The staff were super friendly, and the deck has a great view. We stayed in a Camping2Go tent, which was fine, but the noise was a problem. Every night there was loud bass music that just kept going. They say it comes from an Angolan village, but it still wasn’t what we expected. There aren’t any animals to see here, either. The buffet was okay, though the prices were European. Because of the noise, the lack of animals, and the expensive restaurant, I probably wouldn’t stay at Hakusembe again, or at Rundu. I do highly recommend other Gondwana places like Canyon Roadhouse and Okapuka.
