Alternative Space B & B

I keep coming back to the Alternative Space. It feels like home in Swakopmund, and the WiFi alone is worth at least an extra N$1M. Breakfast is excellent and self-serve, with a well-equipped kitchen and dining space that gets guests talking with one another. The hosts, Frenus and Sybille, and their wonderful family make those conversations especially interesting. There are all the comforts of home here, with a little madness mixed in. The design is intriguing, the art is wonderful, and the conversations make you think. I think this place suits broad-minded travellers best, as all travellers should be.

The room had thoughtful touches, including complimentary wine, hot water bottles and an electric blanket. The hosts were friendly and attentive, and the place was neat, private and convenient. The kitchen was fully fitted and stocked with more than enough for the self-service breakfast. The water got hot right away.

There are just four en-suite rooms, all non-smoking, and the house is full of Namibian art. It used to be a backpackers, but it's now a very individual, architect-designed B&B where every detail has been considered. Breakfast is plentiful and self-service. It's not for conservative, miserable people. I've never been let down here, and can't see why I'd stay anywhere else. Don't miss it. ♥

The kitchen is open to everyone, and you can make breakfast or other meals whenever you like. Evenings by the fireplace brought entertaining, thought-provoking conversations with the hosts and other guests. The B&B is quirky, in a great location, and the hosts are super friendly. We had a great time at the Alternative Space!
