Casa al Mare Guest House

We were made to feel so welcome, and the owner knows the town's restaurants well. Since he used to own one, he could point us to somewhere good and make sure we got the best table. The guest rooms were clean and roomy, just 10 seconds from the ocean shore and about 10 minutes from the city center. A very, very nice stay!

Breakfast was high quality, with croissants, fruit salad, yogurt, bread, cheese, ham and eggs made the way guests like them. We also tried the best coffee we’d had in Namibia so far. The owner, originally from Italy, previously ran an Italian restaurant in Swakopmund and still offers guests an Italian-style dinner, with antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci. We already had a reservation elsewhere, so didn’t try it, but the menu in the entry hall sounded amazing. Casa al Mare is on a quiet street a few steps from the Atlantic Ocean. The lighthouse, old town and mole are about a 10 to 15 minute walk away, and you can park in front. It’s close to the tourist spots without being right in the middle of them. The building was fully renovated a few years ago and is very well kept, with a maritime look in white, light grey and light blue. Our room, no. 5, was upstairs near the breakfast area. It had a modern en-suite bathroom with a huge shower, a Smart TV with Netflix and fast fiber optic internet, something I hardly ever see in European hotels. We’d recommend Casa al Mare to anyone looking for a clean, convenient and beautifully designed guesthouse in Swakopmund.

The owners provide great service, and the seaside setting has a lovely view. The guesthouse is beautiful and elegant. Italian meals are available for dinner if you’d rather stay in, though they’re optional.

The owners really go the extra mile, and there’s a precious family feel to the place. Lovely rooms, a sea view and a spot close to town. Just awesome!
