Namibia Nights @ Cordes

The double room was quite small, with limited facilities for making your own food. We had a microwave, kettle, cups, tea and coffee for two, but not much room to prepare a meal. We couldn’t figure out how to pick TV channels because there wasn’t a guide, though maybe we’re just not very good with the technology. The reception staff were welcoming and helped us work through a challenge to make our stay pleasant.

We’d booked one night through Agoda, then needed to add another because of personal circumstances. The owner quickly made a different room available, so we didn’t have to wait in a cafe while it was prepared. Both rooms were clean and comfortable, and it’s close to a walkable area. I’d recommend it to travelers.

The rooms were clean, the street was quiet, and it was good value. It’s a nice place, but the owners are racist. That may not matter to everyone, but it’s worth knowing if you have Black African friends.

The location is excellent, and the rooms are clean. For a cheap one-night stop in Swakopmund, it’s good value and you can get a good night’s sleep. For a comfortable stay at a fair price, though, I’d look elsewhere. There’s no parking inside, no towel hooks or rails in the bathroom, and each person gets only one medium towel for the whole stay. There’s nowhere to put a suitcase, the fridge is tiny, and the rooms have very little space.
