Tsumkwe Country Lodge

After a long drive from Botswana, we spotted the old Country Lodge sign and decided to see if we could at least park the camper and get some rest. The village seemed tiny, so we weren’t sure what to expect, but the lodge felt like a little oasis. They welcomed us so warmly that we ended up taking a room instead. It was clean, and having cold water and a shower in that heat was perfect. The owners were fantastic, and duty Manager Izzy made us feel especially comfortable. There are a couple of lovely surprises here that make this place feel heavenly in the dry, hot emptiness. Go see for yourself. Thanks again to the Tsumkwe Country Lodge team and owners!

We should've stayed longer. There’s a water hole right beside the camp that elephants visit from time to time, and flamingos gather in the nearby pans. Such an amazing place. The rooms are clean, with really comfortable rustic beds. The new owners have put in so much effort, and this is now a place you shouldn't miss.

We were heading for the Dobe border crossing, so the location worked perfectly. We camped in our 4x4 and had a spacious spot for the vehicle, our own lawn for the table and chairs, and a sweet little private bathroom. The grounds are lovely, and the team were so kind and helpful. We’re vegetarian, and they quickly made us a tasty chickpea curry. A wonderful stay.

After camping here for a long time, it started to feel like home. The campsite is great and very well maintained, the food is good, and the owners are lovely. The staff are warm, and the four resident dogs are a real bonus. It’s pet friendly too.
