Heja Game Lodge

The food is very good and reasonably priced. It's a peaceful spot next to a beautiful dam, with the bush making it feel like a real break from the city. Close to the airport and very convenient for an overnight stop before an early flight.

The surroundings were green and lush, and I spotted a few desert lilies in bloom as we left the lodge. The dam was full, with ducks enjoying the water. We had a delicious, affordable buffet lunch, served by attentive waiters. Health protocols were observed, though not enforced. A heartwarming experience that I really enjoyed.

You get what you pay for here, and the room cost was in line with what the place offers. I won't stay again, though. There was a wedding reception on one of the nights, and the noise was terrible. The hotel told us we just had to bear it. They should warn guests about events like that when booking. More activities would also be nice.

The manager's response was astonishing. It felt like nobody was really bothered, just a stiff “we are sorry,” and then that was it. Today we ordered Apfelstrudel and ice cream, and the second layer of cake was covered all over in mold. It seemed to have been sitting there for at least 4 to 5 days. It makes me wonder if serving food that isn't fresh is a regular practice here.
