A peaceful weekend at Otjimbondona (Camp Kalenga), with plenty of privacy and amazing food. The kind, helpful staff were there around the clock, and we really got a chance to switch off from work for a while. Big thanks to Lazarus, Titus, Shishande and Prodensia for looking after us so well. We’ll definitely be back 😁.

The hospitality was beyond anything I imagined, and the staff were so genuinely kind. It felt like the kind of care you want on vacation, a five-star experience that humbled all the ones I’d had before. The villas were modern, bright, spacious, and beautifully designed, with amazing decor. The windows open up so the whole apartment feels made for the outdoors. It was peaceful and quiet, with just the cicadas. I hope I can return. For now I’m looking through my pictures and dreaming about it. Thank you, Otjimbondona.

The room views kept impressing me with the different species we saw each day, making the stay unforgettable. The flight track and trusted pilot show you a Namibia you won’t forget. It’s a wonderful, peaceful oasis, with a nice team and an impressive kitchen.

Petrus deserves a special mention. His care and cooking skills lifted the dining experience, and apart from a tough steak on our first night, which we barely ate, the other meals were excellent. The villas are spacious and beautifully designed, and our private plunge pool was a highlight for cooling off away from the main area. We spent a weekend at Ojimbonoda Kalahari with my girls. It’s marketed as a luxury stay, but several details didn’t live up to that. The hair dryer was hard to find, there were no coasters, and one villa’s sink didn’t drain properly. We also found used face cream and sunscreen with visible finger marks, which felt unhygienic. Getting in touch with the front desk for emergencies or room service wasn’t easy. We were told we’d get a phone, but it never arrived. Housekeeping was inconsistent: towels and linen weren’t refreshed daily, and used dishes weren’t collected after meals. Check-in and check-out communication was unclear too, and left us feeling like an inconvenience. The cookies were delicious, but in-room Wi-Fi, umbrellas, a speaker, and a broader choice of drinks and snacks would have been appreciated. We shared our feedback during the stay, but didn’t feel it should be directed at the staff. They were visibly trying their best to give us a good experience and were ultimately why we still had a decent, enjoyable time. Special thanks to Lazarus. Ojimbonoda Kalahari has real potential. More attention to detail, housekeeping, communication, and in-room amenities would help it deliver on its luxury promise.

Otjimbondona is a real gem, close to Windhoek and the international airport, and a great place to begin a Namibian safari. There are only four rooms, or villas, so you get exclusivity. Add the excellent owner-run service, and it’s a lovely spot to spend any amount of time.
