The Residences

We had a weekend association event, booked months ahead, and reserved all the rooms. A lot of them were awful: dirty sheets, torn nets, no cooling, broken plumbing, and one door that wouldn't lock. Staff and management were rude and unhelpful as well. Several people in our group had to find somewhere else to stay nearby. This used to be a great place when it first opened, but this weekend was appalling. Even a short-time motel would be better. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The rooftop gives a pleasant view over Bwari township, and the hotel is near Law School Road, about a 15-minute walk from Nigeria Law School, Bwari Campus. There's a high perimeter fence, though parking can be tight during events or once the hotel is half full. The flowers are poorly kept, and the pool toilets and showers have been put to regular use and aren't clean or maintained well. My standard room was a good size, but very dirty and neglected, with stained toilet walls. Ground-floor windows had no mosquito nets. The air conditioners aren't on the backup power, some rooms don't have standing fans, and there are no intercoms. I didn't order food and barely interacted with kitchen staff, so I can't judge their service. I had a bad stay, well below average, and ended up finding other accommodation. Avoid lodging here for now if you can.

The exterior gives a much better impression than the rooms. Inside, they were dirty, with no apparent effort to clean them; door frames were damaged and offered almost no security, wardrobes were busted, plumbing was broken, and the air conditioners weren't connected to backup power. Mosquito nets were torn or missing, and rats had chewed through some of the ones still there. The staff were unpleasant, and the owner or chairman's attitude was abhorrent. This was a terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend this glorified motel to anyone. Whatever brief glory it may once have had seems long gone.

The location and rooms are fine, and I think the hotel could do better. Mine seemed new, but it wasn't looked after: dried soap foam was still stained on the wall, so it hadn't been cleaned properly. There was no intercom, and I had to get the kitchen staff's number to place an order. The price felt too high for the service.
