Quiet, discreet spot, and the surroundings are nice too.

Utako is pretty central, close to the National Stadium and other nice spots around Abuja, so the location works well. The rooms are good, the lights stay on, and everything in the room works, including the hot water. It’s a good hotel, and I’d recommend it, though the staff could be more active and professional. The service from them hasn’t been great, and room cleaning seems to happen whenever the staff feel like it. The food is really good, especially the yam and egg, vegetable soup, and swallow. The prices can be hard to follow, though. One day rice and fish is 4k, the next it’s 4500. At times it felt like they were charging whatever they wanted.

There’s no wheelchair access, but the rooms and service are great. If it’s your first time trying bitterleaf soup, give the restaurant a go, I don’t think you’ll regret it. For the location and what it costs, it’s a great place to visit. You get class, style, and comfort for little money, plus electricity around the clock and free internet.

The owner is around all the time, making a lot of noise and disturbing guests. He has a distinctive loud voice, and, to me, seems to know little about running a hotel. It’s the noisiest hotel in Nigeria, 247, with people fighting all the time. I’d give the company half a star just for existing, and I’d advise people to stay elsewhere. There are better hotels in the same area. The rooms are barely cleaned. Sometimes they give you wet bedding or a wet towel, the beds are old and torn, and the sheets are ripped and discolored. The food is rubbish, and the Wi-Fi never works. Even when it does, some rooms don’t get it, and the power can be low or out. When you ask about the electricity, they say, “oga say make we save money,” lol. The bathrooms get waterlogged, and when they sweep, they leave dirt on the floor and just mop over it. Several of my clients complained about the same things. I think it starts at the top. What a joke of a hotel.

I enjoyed my stay. The staff were neat and friendly, the food was good, and there was free Wi-Fi and steady power. Their coordination is what stood out most to me. I hope they keep it up. As a company, I’d rate them 3 stars.
