St Jacobs Hotel

Sunday night club was packed with familiar faces from Akure’s nightlife. Nice music, a cool place, and a great atmosphere.

Love this hotel. I think it’s the best at everything in West Africa. Keep it up!

I was there with family and friends for my grandma’s funeral, and I regret staying. We had four rooms in the annex for two nights, but the service we paid for wasn’t delivered. The AC didn’t work, there was no WiFi, lights were out, toilet seats were broken, and all four floors were messy and flooded. We asked them to fix things or move us, but nothing changed. The main building was booked for three nights, and after just one night I was already disgusted with the service. The AC kept cutting out, they said the WiFi had run out, and the heater didn’t work, so we had to shower in lukewarm water. We practically had to beg for towels, tissue, and other essentials. The building looks beautiful outside, but the interior needs a major upgrade. The service was poor, staff were unfriendly and irritable, and the rooms and toilets need work. The price was outrageous for what we got. I wish I’d checked other hotels instead of trusting a passerby who’d only seen the building and hadn’t stayed there. I’m appalled by the service in both the main building and annex.

If you want a quiet night during the festive season, avoid rooms close to the club because music goes on through the night. St Jacobs has a lovely atmosphere, but upkeep needs more attention. Water marks on bathroom doors and plumbing problems should be dealt with.
