Towlab Hotel & Suites

We tried both the regular rooms and the business suites, and neither came close to basic hospitality standards. Mold, cracks, and bad paint covered the walls and ceilings. The power also went off at times. The receptionist on duty was courteous, but the service overall was poor. Housekeeping wasn’t available, and we found dirty laundry tucked away in the wardrobe. The receptionist ended up making the bed, and there were no bathroom supplies. The bathroom drainage was so poor that we had to step into stagnant water after bathing. There wasn’t even a manager on site to deal with any of it. This place needs a complete renovation before rooms are rented out again. It doesn’t deserve even one star.

There’s a roomy parking lot, which I turned into an outdoor gym, since the hotel advertises a gym but doesn’t actually have one. That’s pretty misleading. Towlab has a quaint, relaxing feel, the rooms are spacious, clean, well aired, and reasonably priced. Staff are courteous and responsive. There aren’t enforced nonsmoking areas, though, so cigarette smell can linger in odd spots and bother nonsmokers.

The business suite was a letdown for what I paid. The walls were swollen and the paint cracked all over, there was a cockroach in the room, waste had built up under the bed, and the duvet had obvious stains. The room phone didn’t work either. When I asked for WiFi, they first said the person with the password wasn’t available. After I pushed, they admitted there was no WiFi. Checking out, the receptionist told me to wait while they checked the room. What valuables or amenities did they think I’d taken? Extremely disappointing. Don’t trust everything you see online, the actual place is far from the write-up and photos.

Towlab Hotel & suite is right beside the NNPC retail filling station, near Shagari village junction. I’ve never been inside, but whenever I’ve walked past, it’s usually noisy. If you’re after peace and quiet, this may not be the place.
