Best Western Plus Elomaz Asaba Hote

The breakfast was a real highlight, tasty and varied enough that I had a hard time choosing. I didn’t eat lunch or dinner there because those meals were covered by the business event I attended, so I can’t speak to them. There’s also a big pool, though I ran out of time to use it. I was impressed by the stylish atmosphere, and my room felt cozy, was well lit, and neatly arranged. The bathroom was roomy and had what I needed apart from a shower cap. Most of the staff were courteous. One receptionist was rude over the phone and brushed me off when I called with a complaint and asked about its resolution. I reported it to management, who handled it quickly and apologized. I’d stay here again on my next trip to Asaba and would recommend it to others. The hotel felt up to international standards.

The bar and pool area had good entertainment, but the bar service was slow. Breakfast was terrible, with too little food and not enough seating. There were no loungers for sunbathing. I also found the room rules odd: a double room was set up for one person, and breakfast was allowed for just one person.

The breakfast brings together continental and intercontinental options. The atmosphere is top notch.

The food was delicious, especially the Egusi with pounded yam. I tried a different soup each evening, but they were always out of Edikankun (pardon my spelling). I also enjoyed the live music by the pool at night, even when it rained. I was away from Nigeria for 16 years, and this 12-night stay exceeded my expectations. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and professional. I wish I’d had enough Naira to tip them all. The hotel felt better than the Best Westerns in the USA. I used the same Hotel Taxi driver for the whole stay. Yakubu from Benue state was honest and kept his vehicle clean and well maintained. Across the street, I got a fade haircut for $3, compared with $35 in the USA. Security was top notch, though I think crime in southern Nigeria is overblown. Unemployment is terrible. Back soon.
