Pride Garden Hotel

A quiet, tidy place with a moderate-sized pool and an attached spa for relaxing. It’s in central Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, and seems well managed for a 2 to 3 star hotel. There’s plenty of free parking and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. Payments can be made in cash or by POS and credit or debit card. The rooms have OLED flat-screen TVs and air conditioning, and the hotel serves continental and intercontinental dishes. It suits budget travelers who want a little of a five-star feel in a three-star setting. The front desk team are warm, and room service and other staff try to make guests comfortable promptly. You’re welcome here.

The rooms are comfortable, and there’s a poolside spot where you can sit with a drink and chat. The hotel’s facade and atmosphere feel cool and calming, helped by its quiet surroundings.

The rooms smell of cigarettes, and it’s clear they aren’t being looked after properly. Service is poor, and the interiors are in bad shape. The room rates are also quite high for what you get.

ASDAM Lodge has a home-away-from-home feel, and the staff are helpful. Airport pickup is offered as a complimentary option, and there’s a pool and local guides. The food wasn’t great, and the air conditioning in some rooms doesn’t work well.
