This former gateway hotel in Ogun, in Ijebu, has clearly seen better days. Bushes surround the compound and should at least be tended to. It seems the hotel was concessioned to a private organization and is no longer government-managed. The place has the look of a four- or five-star flagship, but lacks maintenance and urgently needs renovation. The roof leaked on some floors. Its pool, tennis court, football pitch and cinema all need repair and upkeep, and the front desk had only one staff member, so service wasn't really adequate. At 70k per day for a standard room, given the location, it wasn't worth the price. I didn't use the facilities because of these issues.

Rotarians held their training here and it went well. The resort is spacious, located in Ijebu ode, and I like that they practice eco tourism. But I watched an unpleasant incident with a waitress on the third slide, whose customer service was nasty. A Rotarian asked her for a takeaway, and she said it was #200, then raised the price to #500. Maybe she saw the crowd, or maybe that's the price, but her attitude was off. I hope staff are trained in customer service, because a hospitality business without good hospitality is zero.

The surroundings felt secure, the staff were warm, and I had a wonderful experience at this nice hotel.

I couldn't stay this time because the standard fell below the bare minimum, and the price was unreasonable. Management charged 70,000 for a standard room, though the standard existed only on paper. The room fittings were worn, old and moldy. The hotel is clearly showing its age.

The food was a real highlight for us. Everything we ordered tasted great, including room service, and it was presented nicely. My English white wife is hard to please, but she loved every meal. The cinema was very good, parking was outstanding, and dry cleaning came back quickly at a reasonable price. I live in the UK and returned to Nigeria after 14 years away, with my English white wife and our two children, who had never been to Nigeria. Getting from Lagos to Equity hotel was straightforward with Google satnav, right to the door. The hotel sits far enough back from the main road that traffic noise wasn't an issue, and the area felt good. Staff were friendly and welcoming as soon as we arrived. Check-in was quick, they brought our bags to the room on a cart, and I was surprised the lifts were working. I didn't have to carry any suitcases upstairs. I booked the presidential suite. It was easy to arrange from the UK, and the staff were respectful on the phone and quick to respond to messages, including sending receipts for the nights I paid for. The air conditioning worked amazingly, the layout was good and clean, the bathroom was great, and the beds were large and comfortable. I marked the room 4 stars because the lounge coffee table was broken and unusable. The online rate was N100,000 a night, but booking by phone I was quoted N135,000, which was confusing. The pool was decent, but it was rowdy because people who weren't hotel guests used it. There was no control over people jumping in and splashing water everywhere. Our children couldn't enjoy swimming, and my wife and I got soaked while sitting beside the pool watching them. We eventually left, which was disappointing, and didn't swim there again. Pool security was good, though. They stopped people approaching us to ask for money. When the power went out, the generator came on within a few minutes. The kids screamed a little at first but got used to it. In general, that was good. I'd recommend the hotel.
