The staff are still welcoming and friendly, though they seem inexperienced. The hotel’s physical condition, though, has declined so badly that I can’t see myself returning next time I’m in the city. I used to stay here regularly for years, so it was the first place I tried when I came back. The main building was poorly maintained: torn sheets, damaged wall fabric, poor furniture, dirty bathrooms, and no toilet seats. After I complained, they moved me to the new wing. It looked good at first, but the workmanship was poor. In the bathroom, the shower head barely gave a decent flow, there was no screen or curtain so water splashed everywhere, no footmat, and just one towel for a double room. The bedroom WiFi barely worked. Its lights were far too bright and couldn’t be dimmed, with no bedside light to relax by. The intercom was useless for guests too. Reception could call the room, but there was no number or information, even on a leaflet, for us to call the front desk and request help. As someone used to a high standard, I can’t overlook all this.

I haven’t stayed there myself yet, but friends who have say it’s a great place to lodge. I’m rating it based on what they’ve told me. Maybe I’ll visit one day and see for myself how good the service and rooms are.

The meals were bland and badly presented, and I wouldn’t recommend the place unless it makes major improvements. Even the bathroom was in poor shape, smelled horrible, and had no toiletries. I couldn’t bring myself to use the shower or toilet. In the first room the mattress was so hard I could barely rest. They moved me, but the next bed sagged unevenly on one side and made me feel like I’d slide off. The walls were visibly dirty, the AC didn’t work and dripped straight onto the bed, and an exposed socket beside the bed was a serious safety concern. My stay was a letdown from beginning to end.

The bed was nice and there’s electricity around the clock, but the room was unkempt and I had to beg for toiletries. Water was very unreliable, and the staff, while friendly, seemed mostly inexperienced. Nothing to write home about.
