Sylvia's Place

I liked the building and the hotel has good facilities and plenty of parking, but they haven't maintained them properly. From a distance it looks good. Once you get inside, there's a lot to be desired, and I don't see myself returning. At night they switched off the power supply, then early in the morning staff knocked on each door asking us to turn off our ACs while they changed over to a smaller generator. I still wonder why that isn't managed centrally. I also wish the beers had been cold, the bathroom drains had worked, and there hadn't been cobwebs in the room. The services just aren't there.

The setting was peaceful, and I enjoyed it. But the Wi-Fi wasn't working at the time, they said it was temporary, and on my last night I sweated through midnight because they didn't turn on the generator. My afternoon food took ages to come, and complaints weren't handled with effective responses or solutions. They need to do better with hospitality.

The location is the only thing I liked. The rooms felt stuffy as soon as I walked in, and the toilets were awful. The windows were see-through, so I couldn't open the curtains for more light without people outside seeing me. The hotel needs to improve how its spaces look. My daughter and I stayed here in August, and the hospitality impressed us from start to finish. The manager, porter, receptionists, and other staff all gave us second-to-none service. The price was affordable, and I hope to stay again on my next trip to Ibadan.
