Roaches were already an issue on my first day at Royal Jots Hotel, and during my stay of over 30 days I had to deal with them every day. It made the whole experience really uncomfortable, even though that first day had seemed okay otherwise. I also found the breakfast disappointing. It wasn't included, and when I ordered it, it was always cold or burned, never prepared properly. I trusted the hotel with my passport and money, locking them in my suitcase in the wardrobe. After the keys were given to the cleaner, I came back to find $20 USD and ₦500 missing from my wallet. I reported it straight away, but the supervisor was unprofessional and accused me of lying. The manager never responded with an apology or explanation. This was easily my worst hotel experience in Nigeria. There was no customer service or accountability, and it felt like theft was tolerated. My husband and I won't return or recommend the place to anyone. Honestly, it should be shut down.

There was no elevator, no ATM, and the hotel wouldn't take foreign credit cards, only Nigerian ones. The only bathroom towel was old and crusty, like wet bread dried in the sun. In the morning I looked out the window and saw a camel! The place is far from much and very dated. There was a big government sticker on the entrance saying the hotel hadn't paid its taxes. Food on site was limited to Nigerian dishes, and there were no Western or other cuisines within walking distance. I had to drive back toward the airport to the Sheraton, which had a casino and several choices including an Italian restaurant. I wish I'd stayed there. I wouldn't recommend this hotel except as a last resort.

The service was good, though the car park at Royal Jatoz isn't very spacious. The rooms are comfortable and nicely designed, and the location is convenient, around a 10-minute drive from the Airport.
