Hotel ibis Lagos Ikeja

Checkout at rooms 521 and 522 became a nightmare and delayed our flight. Staff said the card machine was down and refused our international card. They kept our Forex USD without exchanging it and wouldn't return our local Naira either. The way this was handled felt deliberate, and the IB group can review the CCTV footage. We got no invoice despite asking several times, and our follow-up emails and WhatsApp messages have gone unanswered. Staff at both reception and the restaurant were rude and unhelpful, and management's conduct was unprofessional and embarrassing. This was a disappointing stay marked by poor management. I've had better experiences at other hotels, including within the Ibis group. This isn't a personal vendetta. I'm raising it so the payment policies and staff behavior can be addressed and future guests don't go through the same thing. I hope this helps others make an informed choice.

It was an okay stay, though the wardrobe could be better and the chef needs to improve. The ogbono soup looked awful to me, and the okra soup wasn't bad, but the okra seemed uncooked.

The room is small, though the atmosphere is nice and the staff are polite. Getting food from the kitchen can take hours. If you decide to go out and find food instead, they'll try to persuade you to wait. It feels like the kitchen only cares about buffet orders. I've attached a picture as proof of the location.

The food was the one good part of my stay: delicious and affordable for a hotel, so credit to the chef. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially Lekan, who felt for what I was dealing with, though there wasn't much he could do. The hotel badly needs renovation and feels like a shadow of its former self. My room was musty and moldy, with cobwebs, though it was relatively clean. There were no towels in the bathroom. When I called, they said the laundry machine had broken down. The AC barely worked. I complained several times and was told to be patient because I'd soon feel cold, but I never did. I don't usually give low ratings, but the Ibis on Toyin street deserves this one. They need to do better and give the place a full overhaul.
