Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja

The hotel itself was clean and well maintained, with good amenities. I stayed at the Marriott for about five nights at the end of 2025, paying with a mix of points and cash. The cash covered three nights, at a rate of more than $300 per night. My schedule kept me from trying breakfast for the first three days. On the fourth morning, when I finally went, I was turned away because part of my stay had been paid with points. At that price, being denied a basic amenity felt unacceptable, whatever the policy says. Loyalty programs are meant to reward people for using points, not make their stay worse. A manager later invited me to come back for breakfast, but by then it had already left me feeling unwelcome. That wasn’t the hospitality I expect from a global brand. Breakfast is a basic part of a guest’s experience, and loyalty should be valued rather than treated as a restriction. This is firm but constructive feedback. Marriott can do better.

The food, views, and ambience were all good, and it’s always a great experience here. I’m giving the service three stars because one of the managers was really abrupt and rude to us during the buffet. Not a good impression.

It’s a very nice place, almost heaven compared with outside the compound. Still, the security measures don’t make me feel safe. Armed guards check the cab for bombs with mirrors, my luggage gets x-rayed, and I have to go through a metal detector. If that’s supposed to reassure me, it isn’t working.

I only ate at the hotel, so I’ll update this if I stay there. The Grill restaurant is casual dining out back by the pool. Patrick gave excellent service, and the Cobb Salad was perfect, enough that I’d go back just for that. My steak was cooked exactly how I like it, but it lacked seasoning and was bland without the black peppercorn sauce. The property is beautiful and popular around Ikeja, Lagos, and the lobby and reception were bustling with people checking in and out. There was live music that evening. I was told it happens Wednesdays-Fridays. Good experience overall.
