From the online pictures, the exterior and interior both look clean and sleek. It comes across as a lovely, modern place that promises a comfortable stay.

Planet one has a lot going for it: a good history, roomy parking, a secure and pleasant atmosphere, and several halls for hire with modern toilet facilities. The layout is thoughtful, and there’s a well lit top floor bar with easy chairs and different seating options, though the rooftop bar is often empty. The bamboo bar seems to have fallen out of use. It’s an impressive, laid back hotel in a good spot along the busy Maryland axis, but it may need fresh investment to keep attracting people looking for fun.

The artwork gives this good looking hotel a traditional cultural feel, but maintenance and customer service let it down. My AC kept leaking for the whole stay, despite several complaints, and I used the dust bin to catch the water so it wouldn’t flood the room. Other rooms smelled damp too.

Planet One has fallen a long way from its days as a center for social events in Lagos. Looking at the outside, it’s a sad decline. It was once known for rooms and event services, then seemed to offer only events, and eventually nothing. The owners will need extensive upgrades to bring the equipment and services up to modern standards.
