Ringruby Hotel, Oduduwa Way

The noise was the last straw. Ringruby Hotel shares a fence with a popular bar on oduduwa street, and loud music carried into the room until past 1am. Before 6.30am, there was more noise from the stairs and drilling downstairs, with someone fixing a clothes rail. A staff member was also shouting for someone and dragging his feet on the stairs. Getting into the room was already a mess. They seemed to have forgotten my online reservation, so I had to call and message on WhatsApp to confirm. Then I was told another guest hadn't checked out. I waited around and had to call again before being told the room had been cleaned, more than an hour after check-in time, which I'd already paid for. The second room looked rushed. The floor was still dirty, the phone and bedside table were dusty, and sugar ants were coming from the table and bed frame. There was no tissue or towel until a tall, helpful guy brought them. They also brought insecticide for the ants. The bed cover had residue and short hairs on it, so I dusted it and made the bed again. Renovation noise started on both sides of the building after we'd settled in, though there hadn't been any before I paid. Breakfast was very oily. Some of it tasted good, but the vegetables were burnt and tasteless. I'm not usually one to post a bad review, but hospitality can't end once payment is taken. Hotel management is more than swiping cards.

The staff are super friendly and the hotel is lovely. It's in a great location, though parking can be a bit difficult.

The space is neat, with good lighting, a nice interior, clean sheets and towels, and good food. It's in a very good location, and the receptionists were friendly. On my second night there was no running water, and at midnight I had to ask the receptionist to bring a bucket. I saw someone else had already complained about the water. The TV remote didn't work, so I couldn't watch TV, and the internet was so slow I used my own data. The bath soap and lotion bottles were empty too. Apart from those amenity issues, the hotel is okay.

It's right in the middle of Ikeja and close to the airport, and the room was decent for the price. Service was prompt and the food wasn't bad at all. The TV worked like a charm, though it was a bit slow, maybe because of the wonky remote. The Wi-Fi didn't work for some reason. All in all, I recommend it.
