Suru Express Hotel Surulere

The staff are great, but the rooms and toilets need upgrading.

I stayed for two nights and enjoyed it overall. Breakfast was served in the mornings, and they let me use their microwave to warm my food. The room was cozy, and the AC, TV and water heater all worked throughout my stay. The room was mostly cold, so the working heater was especially helpful. On arrival, I found the table and bedside drawer very dirty after sanitizing the room myself. At the entrance, they had COVID-19 measures in place: I had to wear a mask to go in, and a basin, soap and water were provided so I could wash my hands before heading to reception. The receptionist was nice, and the surroundings were peaceful.

The customer service was poor, and the room was really small. They'd promised breakfast, but none was served.

Tucked away just off Adelabu Street in Surulere, Suru Express Hotel is nicely placed and a bit discreet. It can be easy to miss that it's a hotel until someone tells you, since they're responsible and friendly toward the neighborhood. For a budget stay, the deal is good and the service is great, with warm, welcoming staff always around to help. The one drawback is the street, which probably isn't one you'd want to explore in the rainy season without a car. If you're after a budget hotel with good service in a bit of a hideaway in Surulere, it's worth considering.
