I came back after six years and found the place had really gone downhill. My room was dirty when I arrived, so I had to wait outside while it was cleaned. The curtain wouldn’t draw because its hanger was bad, the bathroom tap leaked and flooded the room, and the AC started making a loud cranking noise overnight. Even though I was with my elderly mum in a double room, they gave us one towel. The receptionist rudely refused when I asked for another, and the manager later said dismissively that their policy is one towel per room, regardless of it being a double. I asked to speak with the manager at 9 a.m. the next day, but nobody got back to me until noon, when they asked when I was checking out. I had paid for the day, then they told me the room was already booked for someone else. The only reason I stayed more than one night was that our luggage was heavy and there was a lot of it, and I only needed another night and a half. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had in Nigeria. If zero stars were an option, that would be my rating.

The location is handy, just behind Ikeja City Mall. I also like that the rooms are named after prominent people instead of using conventional numbers. It isn’t a five-star hotel, but compared with other three-star places it comes out on top. Service isn’t top tier, though they do a satisfactory job.
