De Lankaster Hotel

For N45,000 a night, I expected more. The room had no phone, food or Wi-Fi information, so I had to keep calling reception. There was no AC remote until I asked, and I also had to request complimentary water and tea. The meal choices were poor, and my order wasn't delivered correctly. When I tried to shower, the water heater wasn't working, so I was left waiting for hot water in a bucket. There seemed to be only two staff around, one at reception and another running errands. There were no sockets by the bedside cabinets either, and I needed an extension box connected near the fridge to charge my devices. The building looks nice from outside, but sadly, it isn't good value for the money. The place needs a serious overhaul.

The staff were okay, and the room was quite spacious if you like large hotel rooms. I wasn't keen on the fragrance, since I'm not a fan of cigarettes. There was no shower cover in my bathroom, so water was coming down from the ceiling. I was already late for a meeting and didn't have time to complain or ask for a different room.

The staff there were nice, which helped a little, but we felt awful about the stay. The bathroom door was broken, and the room lock was damaged, so it couldn't be locked from inside. The water stopped for 30 minutes while guests were bathing, and my fellow guest had soap in her eyes in the shower. Room service was very slow too, and they came when it suited them. The hotel was just no good.

The front desk person who checked me in was attentive, polite, and efficient. The General manager was even better than managers at the other hotels I've stayed in since moving to Nigeria. I had a good experience and would recommend the hotel to my business associates, family, and others.
