Toprate Luxury Hotel

The rooms are decent for different kinds of guests, the food is delicious, and the staff are warm and friendly. It’s a nice place to stay, and you can still enjoy your visit. I was disappointed, though, that there’s no swimming pool.

The rooms are okay, the power is fairly steady, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The in-house food is adequate and moderately priced. The viewing channels are limited, and you have to pay a token for the in-house WiFi/internet. All in all, it was an above-average stay.

The uneven steps between floors felt like a trip hazard, and the place had an unsettling, watched feeling, almost spooky. My room was badly lit and had garish colors, with dead flies crammed into the light fixture. There was no Bible, and a bad Monet painting of a cathedral was hanging upside down.

I booked after seeing Top Rate Hotel online at 3.8 stars, with a listed rate of 12,000 a night. I arrived in Owerri for a holiday on Saturday January 9th 2020. The first room I was shown seemed fine, and I paid at reception, but the worker then took me to another room full of mosquitoes. I complained several times. The bathroom had no shower, just a tap with barely any water coming out. They kept me waiting outside for an hour while they tried to deal with the room, but neither the mosquitoes nor the bathroom problem was fixed. They told me to manage it. I have photos of the mosquitoes and bathroom. I also didn't feel safe: more than 8 people knocked on my door that night, then at 5AM a policeman and another man came by. The policeman asked the man to see if I was the person they wanted; the man looked at me, said no, and they left. This place was dirty and unsafe to stay in. Save yourself the trip and money.
