Hotel La Bocona

We booked two nights for $194, but left not long after checking in. The hotel has potential, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but service was just average and the place didn’t feel very professional. They weren’t in uniform, just street clothes. Room 5 was gigantic, with 25 foot ceilings, but it was dirty: there were dirt filled cobwebs about four feet off the ground beside the bed, and the floor needed mopping. The bathroom was private, clean, and outdated, but it wasn’t connected to the room. You have to go through a public hallway and unlock it with a key. It had no windows. The colonial style gives the place a feel like it’s still colonial times. Sitting by the pool at a new hotel, I’m thrilled we decided to leave. Much better options exist in Granada.

Money was stolen from our key lock safe. Management wasn’t helpful or apologetic. They asked, “How can you prove this happened?”

The staff were very welcoming, and I’d recommend the place to a friend. The rooms were excellent and cool, with good beds and private bathrooms. There’s a swimming pool to cool off in the heat, and breakfast was good.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I did have a terrific massage in one of its beautiful, relaxing courtyards.
