Hotel Agualcas

Breakfast was a real highlight, with Nicaraguan dishes, great service, and an omelette station. I also liked relaxing by the pool, and there’s security at the gate around the clock. The airport is very close, though, so the planes are incredibly loud. It sounded like one might crash into our room. The shower took more than five minutes to get hot, and the sink never had hot water. When I asked the front desk about it, they said the sink wasn’t meant to.

I’m from the USA and have stayed at Hotel Agualcas twice. It’s beautiful and clean, with a great pool and surroundings, and the employees are so kind and considerate. This place feels like family, and I’ll keep coming back when I visit. Anyone putting it down should check themselves! Make Nicaragua Great Again! God bless Nicaragua and Hotel Agualcas 🙏😇✝️❤️

The first of our two stays went fine, but after the second, I wouldn’t stay here again. We chose it because it’s near the airport, once at the start and once at the end of our trip. This time our room was by the pool and restaurant, where music blared from the speakers. Even with earplugs, nobody could sleep through it. At 10 pm I asked the front desk to turn it off, and they said not until 11. There were only two people in the restaurant. They seemed to care very little about guests. If you need sleep before or after a long travel day, spend your money somewhere else.

The rooms are basic, without especially good amenities, but they do the job for a simple stay. The neighborhood felt sketchy, so you’re better off driving or getting a ride, though that’s outside the hotel management’s control. I didn’t feel welcome at the front desk, just like another guest. Breakfast staff also made me feel like I was begging for the buffet, limiting servings or giving me a bad look. Housekeeping and maintenance were the bright spot, with much better service and attention. Kudos to them.
