We ended up leaving to find somewhere else. After my wife had booked well ahead, we arrived to find the room unready and it seemed they hadn’t recorded the reservation at all. The price they gave us was also different from the quote we’d received days earlier. We didn’t feel we had much choice, so we agreed, and they went back to clean the room. But it still wasn’t clean when we entered, and there was a cockroach in a curtain. The person in charge didn’t seem able to handle the situation, and there was no real sense of customer service.

For about $7 a night, this is a good backpacker option. The rooms are nice and clean, the location is good, and the people working here are friendly. Wi-Fi is available, and breakfast is a good price.

The one good thing was Toby, a very nice dog who behaved well with guests. The rest of the stay was awful: the room had slugs and cockroaches, and we had to sleep on dirty sheets left by the previous guest. The bathroom was filthy and wouldn’t flush. Turning on the shower made the wall move, like it might fall. Doors had to be pushed shut because they wouldn’t close properly. There was a child at reception, and when the child left, reception was unattended, so there was no security.

We had booked ahead, but arrived to find nothing ready, and nobody showed us the rooms or checked that things were in order. The tiny room had no hot shower, fan, towels, soap, or toilet paper. I’ve had better service at cheaper places, and I’d never stay here again. Terrible place.
