Casa Sirena Surf Lodge

I don’t usually write reviews, even after a bad experience, but I had to share how good my solo surf trip to Sirena Surf Lodge was. I wanted a little break from home and was so glad I went. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and their hospitality was top tier. The food was the best I’ve ever had. I booked the surf package, which includes one daily trip by boat or truck, and those trips were amazing. Each one took me to a beautiful surf spot. If you want to get away, surf, and have things taken care of, do yourself a favor and book. I still have that same wave playing on repeat in my head. Thanks, Greg, Rudy, all the staff, and Goose!

The waves stayed around head high for our whole visit, with a few days well overhead. They know how to get you to the right spots at the right time, which really matters around here. We could go by boat, or surf right out front or a little farther down. We also took a few afternoon fishing trips on their panga, caught species we’d never seen, and explored beyond the surf zones. That was fun. It’s a solid operation, with nice rooms, good amenities, excellent food, and great staff. Getting around was easy too. The kitchen crew was fantastic, Rudy our boat captain was all smiles, and Dave and Laura were always nearby to help or share a laugh. Jomar and Greg made us feel like family.

Miramar is a quiet place, with just one other restaurant within walking distance and no shops nearby. Sirena has everything you need under one roof, though. The family is wonderful and made us feel at home. The sunsets are 10/10, meals were healthy and served on time, and the rooms were clean and cosy with A/C. The lodge is right on the beach, with great views of a beach break that’s surfable basically every day. We were there in low season and the waves were perfect for an intermediate surfer. Greg knows the tides, winds, and banks well, and offers paid strike missions to other breaks. The surf was great every day, even though it was on the smaller side.

I finally got my first barrel with help from Greg, Dave, Jorge, and everyone at Sirena Surf Lodge. I’d been dreaming about a trip to Nicaragua since I started surfing, hoping to get the barrel of a lifetime as an east coast surfer. The daily sunsets over the Pacific, amazing food, cold beer, and family feel made Sirena the best place to stay in Nicaragua. It really was a trip of a lifetime, and I can’t wait to come back.
