The drive from the airport takes a while, and some roads are dirt and steep, so be ready for that. Once you arrive at Buddha Roc, though, it’s the most picturesque resort in Nicaragua, high on a mountain with an infinity pool that seems to flow into the ocean below. The suites are amazing and the staff are wonderful. They didn’t have black tea for me at first, but it arrived 15 minutes later, and they remembered to make it each morning. The Chef is five-star, and his sushi was the freshest I’ve ever tasted. Book a catamaran sunset tour, it was so beautiful. Dexter, the resort manager, can help make whatever you want happen. Five-star all around.

With those amazing views, attentive staff, and exceptional food and drinks, I can’t say enough good things about the resort. There’s so much to do in Nicaragua, and they’ll help you experience it. Be sure to rent a quad to get around.

The resort sits high in the hills, so getting there means navigating dirt roads. It made the trip more fun for us, but plan for it. We arranged a 2 or 6 seater to keep at the resort for trips to the beach or town, and I’d ask about that when booking. There are plenty of adventures and places to eat outside the resort, too. Our vacation with friends was great, and leaving feeling like you’d made friends with the staff says a lot. Inside, each building has its own look, and rooms vary: some have an ensuite bathroom, while others share one with a neighboring room a few feet away. It wasn’t an issue for us. Staff were very friendly and attentive, and some speak English, so the language barrier needn’t worry you. Each morning we had a couple of breakfast choices, and there are places to watch sunrise or sunset from the rooftops, relax in a hammock or on a couch, or enjoy a drink at the infinity pool bar. We also had massages on an outdoor deck on a couple of days, but arrange that with them ahead of time. For events, there’s a great indoor room or you can set things up on the pool deck. The moment you turn into the resort, a calm comes over you, and the views are ready to take in.

We came from Managua for a weekend and wished we could stay longer. It’s beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing, with friendly staff, lovely rooms, and views over both the ocean and jungle canopy. The food is delicious and beer is cheap. Just plan your ride, since the hotel is at the end of a traditional Nican dirt road.

My friends and I had an amazing stay at Buddha Roc Beach Resort, and this first visit to La Paquita, Nicaragua definitely won’t be my last. I plan to stay here when I return. From the bartenders to the chef and cleaning crew, every staff member we met was kind, polite, welcoming, and eager to help. We arrived later in the afternoon and were greeted with big smiles and a delicious cocktail. They went above and beyond to make the stay comfortable. We rented ATVs and made the most of downtown for dinner, drinks, beaches, shops, and nightlife. The area felt very safe and was easy to get around. Main Street isn’t far, and it has what you need. We also enjoyed staying in: the beautiful pool, comfortable lounge chairs, hammocks, ocean views, and quiet corners for reading or time alone. Don’t miss the stars at night. The building is gorgeous, and walking in makes it even more breathtaking. Rooms are high quality, with comfortable beds, TVs, Wi-Fi, AC, and great bathrooms. My room was clean and comfortable. This was one of the best stays and experiences I’ve had, and I highly recommend it.
