Hostel Coco's

A quiet, affordable hostel in a good spot in Moyogalpa, though it’s a little walk from the port. The hosts are a lovely family. There’s a hammock and a big outdoor area to relax, with space to hang clothes in the sun. My room was clean, each bed had a fan, and towels were provided in the bathroom. Water was always available. They offered to rent me their scooter, and meals are available at their restaurant for an extra cost.

We first stayed one night after arriving on Ometepe to work out our plans. After a few days at another place, we couldn’t wait to come back, so we stayed two more nights before the ferry. No regrets. The family are so kind and welcoming, and we’re really sad to leave. We’ll be back! They arranged an amazing trek up Volcán concepción with a local guide. Breakfast was delicious and made with love every morning. Thank you so much, Carlos and Mayela, and your beautiful family. Like Carlos told us many times, “Enjoy your life!” We will. ❤

I didn’t stay at the hostel, but I did laundry there. When I came back for my clothes, some items were missing. They realized they’d lost them, and when I asked for compensation, they threatened me. I left without some of my clothes. I wouldn’t recommend doing laundry there. As for staying overnight, you can decide for yourself whether you’d want to stay somewhere like this.

I really liked it and felt like I was part of a big family. The owners genuinely care about guests’ comfort, are incredibly kind, and are always ready to help. They’ve created a friendly, relaxed atmosphere that made me want to return. Their passion for good service shows. They spoke both English and Spanish.
