Hotel Casa Moreno - Hostel

I went up with Francisco peralta, who knows the island well and made the trip fun and interesting. I contacted Casa Moreno, and they connected me with him as a guide. There’s so much fauna to see on the way to the top, and the views are, I believe, among the most beautiful in the world. I highly recommend climbing this beautiful volcano. Everything was clean and good. The room felt a little small. They offered me a TV and a/c, but I didn’t get the TV.

The staff are sweet, and there’s a nice, relaxing pool area with spots to sit. It’s a bit of a walk to things, though they rent motos right there. Skip the room’s a/c. It made the mold smell awful and wasn’t worth the break from the heat. They generously gave me free breakfast throughout my stay.

We had a very nice pool, and the food was decent for the price. The hostel is a few blocks from the main strip of restaurants and hostels, not a bad walk, though it’s poorly lit at night. We stayed four nights. They can arrange scooter rentals for $15, which seems like a typical rate, as well as kayak trips and mountain hikes. Sometimes the front desk person doesn’t speak English. That didn’t bother us, but booking a trip or scooter could be hard if you can’t understand what they’re saying.
