MUSEUM UPDATED PRICES AND REVIEW: The guide was friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable, and the 30-45 minute tour gave us a look at the history of the island and region. Without the guide, we wouldn't have had a clue what we were looking at. As of June 2025, it's $10/person for both the pottery and currency collections, or $7/person for pottery only. We thought that was a bit steep. Previous reviews from a year ago said it was about $5/person, which seems reasonable. They kindly honored that old price for us because the new one wasn't listed on Google. The museum and hotel are off a dirt road, about a 15-20 minute drive from from Moyogalpa. Restrooms are available, and there are small souvenirs for sale. Enjoy your visit if you decide to go!

We bought the excavation tour, and there's also a tour about the history of the coins. It was $5 for one tour or $8 for both. The guide was really nice and funny, and spoke English very well. You need a guide because the rooms have displays but no information. We spent just over an hour there, and found the tour interesting and informative. There's a small shopping area and bathrooms. Also, there were bats on the ceiling just outside the entrance!

The Petroglyphs collection was impressive and well worth the price. The woman at the front desk showed us around, was very kind, and took her time explaining things. Our Spanish isn't great, but she still managed to make some of it clear. Glad we visited. This is about the museum, not the hotel.

An amazing collection, with many items dating back thousands of years BC. The guided tour is available in English or Spanish, and was packed with information delivered with real enthusiasm. It shows what is said to be the largest collection of ancient artefacts in Nicaragua. A great way to learn about the history of this unique Island. Highly recommended!

We were on a tour, so I don't know what the tickets cost. The museum was surprisingly interesting, given how many artifacts they display and how old they are. It takes about half an hour, and I'd still recommend stopping in for a visit.
