Monkeys Island Ometepe

What a good vibe! Once you get here, you don't want to leave. It's such a relaxed place, with a terrace, hammocks, a beach, and the best sunset view. Monos live around the hostel, and you can see and hear them. A young, helpful family welcomes you and makes sure you have what you need. They make good homemade food, including fish, other meat, vegetables, soup, and pasta. There are cold drinks and showers, and dorm beds and private rooms are more than affordable at 5-8$. You can rent scooters, kayaks, and more at the hostel. It's less than a 40-minute walk to the entrance of las Cascadas de San Ramon, 10 minutes on foot to a small shop, and 15 minutes to a few traditional basic restaurants. I'd really recommend it to backpackers looking for good vibes, relaxed travelers, and a basic place to get lazy in a good way. Keep in mind, like at a lot of hostels at ometepe, there's no kitchen or fridge for self-service. You wouldn't get much to cook with in this part of the island anyway. Loved the peaceful feel here, and the view is really lovely. Such good value for a hostel.

There wasn't much happening while I was there, so I wouldn't suggest this place to a solo traveller. The dorm has no mosquito nets, and it costs only a little less than a private double room. Meals and activities are pricey too, with food costing about twice what it does in town, so the savings on the bed can quickly disappear.

Cold beers, a lovely view, and a clean beach. Best one on the island, in my opinion, and there's a nice restaurant too.
