Hostal Brisas y Olas - Hostel

The rooms are comfortable and really affordable, and the service is friendly and pleasant. It’s only a few meters from the beach. A very nice hostel, and I’d definitely return. I recommend it without hesitation.

For what it costs, this place makes sense. I expected it to feel hot because there isn’t much ventilation, but it was cool inside, maybe because of the season. The staff were friendly the whole time, and the free coffee was a nice extra.

The low price is about the only thing going for it, and even then I didn’t think it was worth it. The hostel has a strange smell, and our room was extremely hot with barely any airflow. The old spring mattresses were awful, and the bunk bed wobbled badly. The kitchen didn’t feel inviting either. In the morning we were loading the car while our things were still in the room, and the owner demanded the keys, then came in to switch off the fans and light as if we’d left them running. That felt pretty unpleasant. The location in San Juan del Sur is good, though.

Everything was great, from the friendly service to the good spot near the beach. The price was excellent too. I highly recommend it.
