Hostal Javiers House sjs

Javier was a perfect host, with great service, a great location, and a great room for a good price. My only issue with the room was the bathroom setup: there was a curtain instead of a door, and that wasn’t pleasant.

The rooms were nice, clean, and had AC, and there was a nice terrace too. Javier was a great, helpful host who always made sure we got the best service. Full recommendation!

I was left stuck for two days with only the clothes I was wearing, and my passport and all my other clothes were locked inside the hostel. I’d asked Javier whether I could leave my large bag there for one night while I visited Ometepe. He kindly said that was fine and there’d be no charge. After the 2.5-hour trip back to San Juan del Sur the next day, I found the hostel closed. When I eventually managed to speak with Javier, he said I should have paid to store my things. If that had been made clear from the beginning, I absolutely would have paid so I could get my belongings later. It was extremely frustrating to lose a full day to travel and then be made to feel like it was all my fault, when the problem came from miscommunication.

The location is incredible, and breakfast was beautiful, with pancakes, fruit, and coffee. The service was amazing too. We went to the wrong spot for our shuttle pickup to the next destination, and the manager came to find us and help. Thanks for the hospitality and friendliness. Highly recommend!
