There was nothing “grand” about it for me. The floor in my room was dirty, and later I found the coffee machine still had used capsules in it, presumably from the previous guests or someone else. There weren’t any fresh capsules, even though I understood they were supposed to be provided. My company had recommended this hotel, but it was poor even for a business trip. Definitely my first and last time here.

We had a great stay and will be back soon. The supper room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, and breakfast was tasty and filling. The staff were attentive, courteous, and professional.

My son and I stayed here for an AZ Alkmaar football match, and the location worked really well, with bars and restaurants all around. Alkmaar station is a 10-minute walk away, and AFAS Stadium is about 40 minutes on foot. The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff made us feel very welcome.

The location is great, and the staff were helpful and considerate. It’s a lovely old post office that’s been turned into a luxury hotel, though the luxury seems to have faded quite a bit and it feels more like a three-star place. At times it reminded me of a nice hostel more than a luxury hotel, but I still enjoyed staying there.

Alkmaar is easy to explore from this central spot, and the staff made us feel very welcome and were always helpful. The historic building has plenty of charm, while the rooms are modern, spacious, and impeccably clean. I had a fantastic stay at Grand Hotel Alkmaar and would highly recommend it for a comfortable, memorable visit.
