Our room had a full kitchen and the essentials, including shampoo, and the shared laundry in the lobby was a big help with three kids. The children also loved the motion sensor bird and the marshmallows in the lobby. We were met by the owner as soon as we stepped off the bus from the train station, just a few feet from the hotel. He knew us by name, walked us in, helped with our luggage, and took time to make sure we had what we needed. He even marked things on a town map. The room suited our family of five, including three children under seven, and had lots of character. We were right by the downtown and old town corridor, with shops and restaurants just steps away, but the hotel was tucked down a quiet alley. A perfect Dutch experience. We’d love to come back!

I’m already looking forward to coming back in April. I stayed three nights last month while attending a seminar, and really recommend this lovely hotel. The service was excellent, and it was clean, stylishly furnished, and quiet.

The room was cozy, and the staff were genuinely helpful. Staying at Grapelli Hotel was a pleasure. It’s right in the heart of Alkmaar, near the center and public transport.

The rooms are beautiful, and the whole hotel has a lovely look. The guy running the place gave us earplugs in case the noise from kings day bothered us, but we didn’t end up needing them because the rooms block the sound so well. I’d definitely visit again.

We only wish we’d had longer here, but we’d already committed to staying elsewhere. It’s such a good spot in Alkmaar: close to the city and all the conveniences, while still feeling safe and quiet for a city location. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were well equipped, and the kitchen had plenty in it. Getting in and connecting to the facilities was easy. It’s a keyless door with WhatsApp set up, so you do need to know how to use that, but it’s straightforward. I wish more hotels did this. The owners were brilliant to deal with.
