Bastion Hotel Almere

I won’t be coming back to this hotel. After a competition, ten of us met in one room for a few drinks and some light music. We may have gotten a bit loud at one point, and a man who said he was the manager came to the door and told us we had “10 minutes to leave.” We took that as a warning to quiet down and wrap things up, which we did straight away. Everyone went back to their rooms to get ready for bed. Then, without warning, the same man went to our neighbors’ room and threw us out altogether. He acted aggressively and completely out of proportion to what had happened. He even got physically forceful with one woman, and wouldn’t calm down, despite us clearly cooperating and doing what we thought he’d asked. I’ve never been treated so hostilely or intimidatingly by hotel staff, and it was completely unprofessional. Someone who loses control over a minor noise issue shouldn’t be in a guest-facing job. I strongly advise others to stay away if they expect basic respect and professionalism.

The airport shuttle worked reliably, but the private shuttles to other destinations were a disaster. They were often late, didn’t show up, or simply never arrived, with no explanation. I was here for two nights on a business trip and found the stay disappointing overall. My room was dirty, with spider webs in the corners and on the ceiling. The fridge didn’t work and smelled so foul and nauseating that it was unusable. A building next door is being demolished, so there was loud noise and strong vibrations from 7 a.m., making it impossible to sleep properly. I can’t recommend the hotel based on this stay.

The staff never smiled or even said good morning to us. And the room was dirty all over: dust on every surface, a sticky floor, and a grimy bathroom with hair in the shower and limescale. We wanted a clean, comfortable weekend, but were disappointed on every count. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Nothing fancy, but the hotel was clean, reasonably priced, and near the place I needed to be. I was pleased with my stay, though I wouldn’t make a special trip to stay here.
