Holiday Inn Express Almere by IHG

The location is handy for Almere Buiten train station and shopping. My corner room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, including the bed. Breakfast had lots of variety, and the pastries were especially good.

It’s about 15 minutes by car to Ziggo dome, and this location costs less than the Holiday Inn hotels in the city centre. Our room was clean and spacious, the breakfast was good, and I liked the waffle maker. The staff were great and very attentive. I’d definitely stay here again.

Being right outside the train station makes it easy to get around. The area has few places to eat, and there aren’t many options for getting things late at night. The hotel could sell more items to help out, though they do have some things available if you ask. Our room was fairly clean, but the curtains and carpet had quite a few stains. Breakfast was below average for us. It’s included, but they often ran out of cutlery, and even after we asked, it took at least 10 minutes for more to arrive. The bed was advertised as a double, but it was two single mattresses on a double frame, and they slipped apart during the night. The night shift man who checked us in was amazing. He helped us pronounce a few words we got wrong, and we had a laugh about it. The night worker with the ponytail was great too, really easy to get along with. I’d definitely stay again, since I think the issues are avoidable. Can’t wait to be back in Almere soon!

The location is very convenient, with shops and restaurants two to three minutes away on foot and the train station opposite. The nearby parking garage is also very cheap by Dutch standards, just three euros for 24 hours. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast good. Even so, I wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel accommodated large groups who weren’t paying guests. I had an unpleasant encounter in the elevator, there was a security guard stationed at the breakfast buffet all the time, and the hallway was noisy in the evenings. There were also always lots of men hanging around outside the entrance. The whole place had an unpleasant vibe.
