Radisson Hotel & Suites Amsterdam South

The room upkeep has become hard to ignore. During my 15-day stay, I had to ask more than once for a basic clean after a week, and the cleaning I got still fell short. Sheets were left unchanged, the bathroom wasn't attended to, rubbish remained, and the floors weren't vacuumed. At around EUR 190-200 a night, that was disappointing. I raised it with the Housekeeping Manager, who was kind and honest about a staffing shortage. I appreciated that, but guests paying a premium shouldn't have to deal with the effects of an internal staffing problem. I've stayed at the Radisson several times and still enjoy a lot about it. The breakfast spread is generous, rooms are spacious, the kitchenette is a nice touch, the gym is well-equipped, and the location works well if you're driving. The basics are strong. Fix the housekeeping and I'd happily give it five stars. For now, reluctantly, it's a 3.5 for me.

The mattress was comfortable, but almost everything else made the stay difficult. I spent 5 nights here and asked for room cleaning 7 times over 4 days, with no cleaning done. After several complaints, they came after the fifth night, but the room was still dirty. They changed only the bedsheets and towel, even though I asked for a full clean. The pictures show the room after that cleaning. The hotel is isolated and out of the city. There is no secure WiFi for guests. I complained to reception several times and urgently asked about the secure WiFi, but was told it was internal only. Guests may need a secure internet connection. There is a €200 security deposit, and city tax applies per night. Be careful before booking. The hotel needs better management and a better cleaning service company.

For six days in a row, I kept asking for my room to be cleaned, and it still wasn't properly done. Guests shouldn't have to beg daily for basic hygiene and service that a hotel should provide without being asked. When problems came up, staff gave excuses instead of taking responsibility, and couldn't resolve even simple issues. The service felt extremely incompetent and unprofessional, and the cleanliness and management were disgraceful. This was one of the worst hotel stays I've had, and I would never recommend it.

The staff made the stay, especially Hugh, who was absolutely legendary and showed us wonderful hospitality. If you ever arrive in Dublin, please reach out. We'd love to return the hospitality.
