Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

The canal view was the highlight for me, with the canals meeting at an intersection right outside and lovely wildlife passing through. This was my second visit, and I’ll be back. The team is great throughout the hotel. Sophia at reception once again gave us wonderful care, and Petty and the breakfast team were especially welcoming when we arrived. Our room was modern and comfortable, and the living room was lovely, especially by the fireplace. There are nice local restaurants nearby, a great market, and you can walk into the centre.

We chose the Apollo hotel because we wanted to stay away from a busy tourist area, and the neighbourhood was quiet, by a junction of five canals. The museums are only 1.5 klm away, and transit is easy to use. The payment system is different from Canada's, but once you understand how it works, it’s straightforward. The rooms are comfortable, with very soft, cosy beds. There are two restaurants downstairs, including one with a delicious breakfast buffet of hot and cold food. The hotel staff speak English, which was very helpful.

I wish we’d had another day here. We arrived late and left the next morning for our flight, so I didn’t get much time to enjoy the hotel. There are lovely sitting spots all over, each with its own look, where you can have morning coffee or unwind after travelling. The hotel is gorgeous, the room was a good size with a beautiful water view, and the staff were so warm and welcoming. Everything felt perfect.

The hotel has a cosy, warm feel, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was quiet, comfortable, well equipped, and big enough. Its decor draws on the Amsterdam Olympic Games of 1928, which took place in the area. I was told the Olympic Stadium is still visible. It’s beside a canal, near a canoeing club, in a residential neighbourhood with lots of bars and restaurants. The busy tourist centre is just a short walk away, and de Pijp metro station is about ten minutes on foot. A good option for either work or a pleasure trip to Amsterdam.
