Best Western Dam Square Inn

Everything is within walking distance from this fantastic location, and the price is convenient. The room and mattress were comfortable, and it was very quiet. There was also a comfortable armchair in the room. Breakfast was fair but basic. The bathroom is small, and the basin is too big for the space in front of the WC. Staff were correct, though they could have been a little friendlier.

The location is perfect for getting everywhere, and the spacious rooms have all the amenities you need, including aircon. Breakfast has a great variety too. Nothing but good things to say, don't hesitate to book. Highly recommend.

We were all happy with the hotel, including the five family members who came over from Germany for the weekend. I stayed ten days, and the location made it easy to get to the Royal palace, Nieuwe Kerk, Dam, and other Amsterdam sights. The staff at reception and in the breakfast room were excellent, friendly, and helpful. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast, including boiled eggs and different cereals. My single room was snug around the bed on the way to the bathroom, though otherwise fine. It had a small desk tucked in a corner with an electric kettle for tea and coffee, plus a safe in the closet. The bathroom was spacious and the towels were good, but the shower door didn't close all the way, leaving a puddle on the floor after a shower.

The location was the main reason this was a good stay, and breakfast being included helped when traveling with my always-hungry teen. The hotel was clean, though our room smelled of smoke, the bathroom sink was clogged, and the lighting felt very dim in the evening. Maybe the lighting is just a personal thing. I also found the service culture in Amsterdam less warm than what I'm used to in America. People working in service didn't tend to smile, greet us, or offer help. At $300 a night, it didn't feel like good value for the money.
