Boutique Canal House Suites

The lobby looks beautiful, and the location is great, close to everything. Breakfast had what we needed to last until lunch, and the staff were friendly. The rooms felt a bit dated, with mould in the bathroom. The walls are very thin, so you can hear everything. I'd recommend earplugs if you need a good sleep.

Our double canal view room on the first floor was adorable, and the hotel sits right by the canal. It's a wonderful, authentic place. Breakfast was included, with a reasonable selection of pastries and other things. The stairs are extremely steep.

The canal-view rooms are worth it, and breakfast is high quality. It's a cosy, quiet-feeling hotel for the price and location. The stairs are very steep if your room is upstairs, though that seems expected in Amsterdam.

The room noise made this a terrible stay. I could hear ordinary conversation and footsteps from next door, and sounds from the guest above me too. I asked to move, even offering to pay more, and explained that I was pregnant and struggling more with the lack of sleep. The woman I spoke to said two rooms were available, but they were a higher room type, so I would have to make a new booking and lose the money for the two nights I still had paid for. She agreed that this made no sense, then told me to buy earplugs, which I thought was ridiculous. She said it was an old building. They should say that upfront or try to find a solution. I reported the issue to Booking that day. In the afternoon, the hotel messaged to say a room change might be possible, but gave no price and asked me to come back within 15 minutes before housekeeping left. I was out and couldn't do that. I explained I wouldn't pay for a whole new reservation and lose the two remaining nights I'd already paid for unless they offered another option. They never replied. The staff were unfriendly and unwilling to help.
