Captain's Place

Our hosts were kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating. Staying here was the highlight of our two weeks of travelling across several countries. I’d highly recommend it if you’re visiting Amsterdam and would rather avoid the city centre chaos.

Marieke and Sander have put so much care into creating this beautiful suite. Our whole family made us feel welcome, and the private WhatsApp group set up a week before we arrived made communication really easy. We got travel and arrival details, plus tips and recommendations for our visit, and they were always happy to help. Thank you all for such a warm welcome and a wonderful stay. We’d definitely come back if we’re in Amsterdam again. Staying on the converted coaster was a lovely way to unwind away from the city bustle. The Sailor Suite on the Coaster Mado is beautifully refurbished to a high standard, with gorgeous views of the lake and river. It’s about 2 miles from the centre, but good public transport makes it easy to get around. There’s a bar, restaurants, and shops nearby, and it was great to see a different part of Amsterdam. The suite has everything we needed, including complimentary coffee, tea, snacks, drinks in the fridge, and lovely toiletries. They even had cups for us Brits, thank you 😁 Erica and Richard xx

We really enjoyed the hosts’ communication, and our seven-year-old daughter was a fan of the swing on deck. We spent three nights in the Sailor Suite and found it just perfect.

The old harbour area is a convenient base, with cool architecture and hardly any tourists around. Tram 7 gets you to the centre in minutes, while Tram 26 goes to P&R Zeeburg, where parking is 1 euro per day. The apartment was cozy and well equipped, and the charming hosts made it a great way to discover Amsterdam from the water.
